Settle All Controversies Out Of Court
Suppose your adversary has a claim against you, 😇.
So you're on your way to court.
Try hard to [get free from your adversary].
Settle the matter on the way.
If you don't, that adversary may drag you off to the judge.
The judge may turn you over to the bailiff.
And the bailiff may throw you into prison.
