TROY SAYS:

Great 8.6

"Cameron and the cast and crew poured lots of heart, intelligence, and love into making the film. It's filled with interesting and very expensive music choices. It's uneven. There are many amazing mega-expensive shots, like Tom running through an empty Times Square, for example. These shots are separated by long, talky dialog scenes. The cinematography is amazing. The editing is uber-cool. The acting is very good. The film definitely makes you think. However, you're eventually a bit let-down by the realization that you've been watching what is (somewhat dubiously) billed as a dream. It's probably the best of the "lucid dream" films, but in the end it's still a dream-based film, rich in metaphor but not a plausible real-life story. The film includes perceptive dialog about the subconscious. "

GENIE SAYS:

Good 7.0

β€œInteresting and sometimes amazing, but ultimately disturbing. Tom Cruise has a 3 minute scene of him having rough sex with, then killing Cameron Diaz. The scene is later revealed to have been a nightmare, but by that time anyone who saw it is scarred for life. That's not family entertainment. The movie is packed with strong profanity.”
