The Rock and the Water

Author: Troy
Theme: Tribulation/Purification/testing
The Rock and The Water
Isa. 28:17 I... will sweep away your refuge, the lie, and water will overflow your hiding place.

VERSE 1: Stand at the Canyon - feel the crashing sound
the mighty River Carving out the ground
Water downs the proud mountain
Water gets its way
Reigns through the ages -
Cuts the rock away

VERSE2: See the grand castle (that) hides the child inside
Armored for battle - guarded by pride
Down in the dungeon
Praying for the tide of your Love
To flood in waves
To rust the lock,
and cut the rock away

Verse 3: Streams we're crying spring from the strong flow
The Living River Water that strips us to the soul
The LIE is dying, washed away with age, (while a)
New Life comes rising when Love cuts the rock
And (rolls) flows the stone away

Stand at the river - Watch its awesome power
Carving a Canyon Where proud mountains towered - Flowing (humbled) TIME ages
Slowly, surely water gets its way The river's persistence cuts the rock away
Flowing (humbled) TIME ages
Love rolls away the stone
flow time through the ages, down through the ages
tears high mountains down
watching how the proud mountain is brought down (humbled) to it's knees
brings high mountains down
how the proud mountain crumbles down with age humbled by water that cuts the rock away
Carves out a Canyon where towering mountains reigned from age to age
Time and a river (Love is the river)Strips the rock away
where time has woven it's way Time persistence wears
soft flowing water cut the rock away from age to age) tearing mountains down

you rolled away the the stone drop by drop 'til you found me there alone(Now )I won't (have to) go the road alone
I'm praying for a tidal wave of love to flood like water
(Entombed in this prison) I'm helpless (I waited) til the tide of your love; like waves of water flooded in, breaks the lock cut the rock (and rolled the stone) awaystrength fortified by pride a private castle fortified by pride a show of strength and pride pride that hides the fear
so no one sees the child inside no one gets close enough to see
but soon it's a dungeon and prison and tomb we die inside until
Provides protection so no one comes too near
(we, I) wait(ed) (here) 'til the waves FLOOD of God's (your) love flooded comes (came) (down) like water and cut the rock
afraidthe fear within the rock of protection the pride that hides the fear
I waited 'til the waves of your love came like water and cut the rock (and rolled the stone) away
no one comes too near a private fortress keeps the pain away outside a rock of protection still we stay afraid
I built a fortress to keep the pain away the rock of protection (rejection) safe yet still so afraid
I sealed myself inside Threw the key away Rolled the stone away My rock of protection had become my tomb the light of day The rock is rejection of all who come too near
You can't get close to anybody because they can't get past the wall
No one can get in and you can't get out Love runs like water (river, stream, tide, waves , like a river. flood)
washing over us washing down the walls We build between us
Taking away the fear and leaving only trust

In the trials (rush) of surviving
tired of surviving locked up in the cage
dungeon I'm always trying to fortify my cage
We're always trying to build the walls so high to keep true love (life away) keep the truth away
God's tender hand the charm of a lover the science of the sage (The mind of a genius) The power of the rich (riches)
The winner in his strength You can't take it with you The wisdom of old age It wears away with age
TIme is a river that strips the rock away

Erode away the stone so I won't have to stay in here alone you don't have to stay in there alone
Sometimes we suffer and wonder why

Love's living water (wants to get to me) cuts right to the eart
It doesn't matter what we do or say Life's like a hammer
TIme is a lion we cannot evade
waterfall,

the wind and the Spirit strip the rock away

The human being is tender, soft,
But we build walls when people hurt us, when we want to be selfish, when we're ashamed and insecure
People who love us, gently wash us with their love until the rock walls are gone and all that's left is the real person inside.
stone wall the rocks that surround me

I built a fortress
because I was selfish and beacuse I was afraid
You washed me like water
and stripped the rock away

Wearing you down
A severe mercy of the God of love
What (some) kind of strange love
Takes your defenses and strips the rock away
It doesn't matter what you do or say
Life is a hammer That strips the rock away
Everything decays
begging for mercy (friendship, kindness)

Before we're dead
We'll be crying for mercy
Begging for a friend (our bread)

Time is a lion That hunts and preys upon our pride
He will find our pride
love cuts like water it's called erosion
everything decays
The winds of sickness blow our way Maybe the heartbreak that's worse than any pain
but loving and suffering
To find the heart inside Somehow before we die We'll see eye to eye
Nothing between us Because
You can't live inside
you're made for communion for intimate union with christ and with his bride
with people and with God
Sooner or later we go out like we came in
naked like a babe
Vulnerable
Walls/ shells come forth resurrected given new life Rolls away the stone entombed
naked and nothing - naked and helpless
We leave like we came we'll all be the same
stripped of our pretense armor
Everything burns as the world turns even the world that turns
as the universe decays

In health and sickness - for better and for best
richer and poorer until the final test until we take our final rest

deeper than the sea
slowly day by day
Smashes a mountain

nothing can stand to the flood of humbling
