Get away from people who are going nowhere, doing nothing.
People going nowhere want you to stay with them.
Get away from negative, toxic people, they're Dream Killers.
And stay "in town" enough to network with your peers.
Realize that one of the reasons labels keep performing artists on the road all the time is so that they won't be able to consult with each other about how to improve their deals.
